In plain words: an offence committed before 1 July 2024 stays an IPC offence and is punished under the IPC (BNS s. 358). Procedure and evidence turn on something else — whether an investigation, inquiry, trial, appeal or application was already pending on that date (BNSS s. 531(2)(a); BSA s. 170(2)). If it was, the CrPC and the Evidence Act continue to govern it; what is begun afterwards is under the BNSS and the BSA. A research aid, not legal advice.
